Father Of Children Who Perished In Gesner Street Fire Receives Letter From Mayor

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Fire officials have yet to release the cause of the fatal Southwest Philadelphia house blaze that killed four children. Monday evening, the father of two of the victims who had been critical of the city's response, had a meeting at City Hall and talked about a letter he received from the Mayor.
Patrick Sanyeah, who demanded an apology from Mayor Nutter in the week following the fatal fire, now has a different tone.
"I feel a lot better from him talking like a hero. Like a leader," he said.
Sanyeah reflects on a letter from the Mayor, who expressed sadness, sympathy and said firefighters did everything they could to save lives and the city would fully investigate the blaze. Sanyeah, still grieving, spent an hour meeting with Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison, which he calls positive.

"We're just trying to work together and try to put the kids to rest. (The Mayor's Office) said they were willing to help, to have a little get together, a memorial service for the kids," he said.
A service which he says could take place within the next few weeks.
