Fantasy Football Redraft League Week 14 Report
By Andrew Porter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The fantasy playoffs are officially underway, but for those of you who missed the postseason (I obviously made the playoffs in all four of my leagues), it's time to play in weekly redraft leagues.
I got the best week 14 plays for you.
*These projections and stats are based on standard fantasy scoring systems and values are based on Fanduel.com
QB
Nick Foles at home vs. Detroit
First thing is first when playing fantasy football. You have to separate your hometown bias from objective fantasy analysis when making managerial decisions. Having said that, Nick Foles is the hottest QB in the NFL (19 TDs, 0 INTs) and the Lions are 26th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game (262.3).
Foles is only the 7th most expensive quarterback this week on Fanduel, and I think he has top-3 potential.
Note: Keep an eye on the weather leading up to kickoff
RB
Eddie Lacy at home vs. Atlanta
Atlanta is third worst in the NFL, allowing 135 yards a game on the ground. They gave up 21.9 fantasy points per game (4th worst) to opposing running backs. The Packers will likely be without Aaron Rodgers again. I'm going to guess Eddie Lacy is going to be the focal point in Green Bay's game plan.
Lacy is only the 16th most expensive running back for some reason. I say he's a top 5 running back this week.
RB
Ray Rice at home vs. Minnesota
Sneaky play here. After a 25 carry, 131 yard, 1 TD performance at Chicago in week 11, Rice has quieted back down rushing for a combined 62 yards on 28 carries in his past two games. However, one of those games came against the Jets, the number one ranked run defense in the NFL. The second of those two games came on Thanksgiving night against the Steelers.
Just from watching Rice run, it looks like he has been running better of late and this week he gets the Vikings in a dome. The Vikings give up the third most fantasy points to opposing running backs and the most receiving yards to opposing running backs in the NFL. I say Rice has a monster game here.
Rice is only the 25th most expensive running back this week.
WR
Vincent Jackson at home vs. Buffalo
VJ is a fantasy wack-a-mole, meaning you can't trust. He's inconsistent. He has four games with 15+ fantasy points, and eight games with seven fantasy points or less this season. This week he faces the Bills at home. The Bills give up 28.6 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers, second worst in the NFL.
Jackson hasn't had a big game since week 11. He's due.
Victor Cruz at San Diego
Cruz hasn't scored a touchdown since week 4. Week 4! However, he caught 8 balls for 110 yards against the Packers in week 11 and 6 balls for 80 yards against the Redskins last week. He's due for a touchdown against the Chargers, who give up the fourth most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers.
Cruz is only the 20th most expensive receiver.
TE
Ladarius Green at home vs. New York Giants
Green has at least eight fantasy points in each of his last three games, and has scored each of the previous two weeks. Worried about Antonio Gates? Don't be. Green played in 91% of San Diego's snaps last week. They're using both tight ends and Green has been out-performing Gates of late, who is battling a hamstring injury.
The Giants give up the eighth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends, for what it's worth, and Green is only the 14th most expensive tight end this week.
Def
Arizona at home vs. the Rams
The Rams offense is not very good. The get their best production from their running back, Zac Stacy. However, Arizona is 4th in the NFL against the run, so the Rams might be forced to rely on Kellen Clemens to throw the ball which is very good for the Arizona defense fantasy owners of the world.
