Fans Take Andy Reid Off Eagles Mount Rushmore
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – "Who is on the Mount Rushmore of ________" is one of the great sports radio topics of all-time. No matter the day or time, the minute you ask "who are the four most important people" of whatever team or position chosen, a debate is sure to follow.
Pro Football Talk presented their "Eagles Mount Rushmore," and there was a name on it that fans decided would be better left off; former head coach Andy Reid.
Reid, Chuck Bednarik, Reggie White and Steve Van Buren made the list presented by PFT's Mike Florio. A fan vote took Reid and Van Buren off the list, and replaced them with Randall Cunningham and Brian Dawkins. Neither move is a surprise, as Reid was never particularly popular during his tenure in Philadelphia, especially toward the end. Dawkins and Cunningham along with White probably represent the three most popular players in Eagles history.
