Fans React To Eagles Ugly Opening Day Win
By Robin Rieger
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It wasn't pretty, but the Philadelphia Eagles managed to squeak out a win on Sunday against the Browns in Cleveland.
Fans at Xfinity Live in South Philadelphia celebrated and offered some post game analysis.
"A win is a win, but we need a lot more out of Michael Vick," said Rose Klein of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. "This year hopefully they come out strong and take us to the Super Bowl."
Ever hopeful and faithful, fans are starting the season off with a positive outlook, despite a poor offensive showing by the birds, including four interceptions thrown by Vick.
"As bad as he played, he came back to win," said Nick Price of Marlton, New Jersey.
Applause was mixed with frustration at Champs in Marlton, and that prompted fans to suggest the team had a few things to work on.
"I think they need to drive the ball down the field a little bit more strongly," said Damian Higgins of Forked River, New Jersey. "They need to pick up their game as far as the open field, hitting their receivers."
"Even though they won, I'm concerned about the turnovers and the penalties," said J.P. Price of South Hampton, New Jersey. "This is not exactly 'dream team' here."
But the 17-16 win in the end for the Eagles turned what could have been a nightmarish start into just a bumpy start, with a long season ahead.
"They're 1-0," Price said. "And as they say? A win is a win."
