Family Friendly New Year's Eve Events
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a whole list of family friendly events taking place on New Year's Eve.
Cara Schneider, with the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, goes over just some of the events families can enjoy together.
"The Kimmel Center has the orchestra and Parenting the Musical. World Cafe Live has shows. Mother Bethel, the African-American Church on Lombard Street, has a 10 to 12:30 evening celebration. Also, if you want to get out of the city, Longwood Gardens does a holiday lights show," said Schneider.
If you want to celebrate during the New Year a little early during the day, Schneider said there are children's parties. "Franklin Square has an outdoor kids New Year's Eve party. There's also a party at the Please Touch Museum. They do their party at noon and then they also do their countdown to midnight again at 1 p.m.," said Schneider.
There are also two fireworks displays on Penn's Landing for New Year's Eve. The first will take place at 6 p.m. and the other at midnight. (KYW Newsradio is providing the soundtrack for both shows)
On Saturday, Schneider adds, you shouldn't forget about heading to Broad Street for the Mummers Parade.
