Families Stock Up For Easter At Italian Market
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Holiday preparations are underway for Easter Sunday feasts. A butcher shop in the Italian Market in South Philadelphia has been a go-to for families in the region since 1920.
Lambs and goats hang on hooks at Cappuccio's Meats on 9th Street.
"They ordered by the weight and the size that they prefer. He is cutting them up, he is cutting lamb chops there," general manager Dominic Crimi explains.
He says hams on and off the bone and specialty sausages are also hot sellers for Easter meals.
Cappuccio's for Easter is a tradition for the Masso family of Glassboro, N.J. Joe and his mother Barbara ordered two whole lambs for their holiday feast.
"I've been coming with my grandfather from the time I was six-years-old," Joe said.
And the shopping doesn't stop at the butcher shop, they're making food to feed 35.
"Homemade pasta, meatballs, braciole, home made bread..."
