Facebook Gets A Facelift
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Call it a Facebook facelift. In an interview with CBS' 60 Minutes, founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the new layout would appear less like an extended scrapbook and more like a mini-biography.
"I work at Facebook and I spend all my time there. Here are all of my friends. I grew up in New York and now, I live in California. It's basic, important things," explained Zuckerberg.
The top of your profile page now features where you work, where you went to school, and of course, a few snapshots of your life.
"Photos were not originally a part of Facebook, but we found that people really liked them, so we built out this functionality," said Zuckerberg.
The new redesign lets you list the important people in your life and another feature allows you to pull up a history of your relationship with any of your Facebook friends.
"You can see all of the things you have in common with that person. It gives you an amazing connection to your friends in a way the current version of the profile does not."
Mark insisted the site protects privacy.
"We never sell your information. Advertisers who are using our site never get access to information."
It remains to be seen whether or not the new layout encourages users to reveal even more.
