Exton Area Jolted By Several Lightning Strikes
EXTON, Pa. (CBS) – One suburban area experienced numerous lightning strikes on Wednesday night.
The West Whiteland Fire Company says that it received nine calls about dangerous lightning in the Exton area just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Several locations were reportedly struck, including the Exton Square Mall, a Kohl's department store, the Fairfield Place Shopping Center and a few local residences.
While the incidents were quickly placed under control, the Exton Square Mall was closed for the night as a precaution.
The mall's general manager told Eyewitness News that the mall itself wasn't struck, but a nearby PECO line was, which affected the mall's power and HVAC system.
The mall is expected to reopen as scheduled at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
