PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -A study out of Finland has taken a look at inactivity and the heavy price that people pay for spending too much time sitting.
This study can now be added to the dozens of studies which have linked inactivity with problems like heart disease, metabolic syndrome and weight gain. This particular report found that people who said they had less than one hour of moderate to vigorous physical activity a week had more symptoms of anxiety, pain, withdrawal and depression than those who were more active.
This report is just one of many studies supporting a similar theme.
A growing body of evidence suggests an increase in physical activity can help reduce symptoms such as depression and anxiety in both adolescents and adults. It makes a lot of sense. My suggestion is that we need to find time to exercise.
This study says vigorous exercise but my feeling is that just getting out there and pacing yourself is just as effective as long as you keep it up.
