EXCLUSIVE: Judge's Ruling: Boyfriend of Nadia Malik Stays Behind Bars

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The boyfriend of 22-year-old Nadia Malik, the missing Delaware County woman found dead inside a car at 30th Street Station February 20th, has been ordered by a Delaware County judge to remain behind bars on charges he violated probation on an earlier DUI conviction by traveling to Ohio in the days before Malik's body was found.
Police believe Bhupinder Singh was among the last people to see Nadia alive.
The judge sentenced Singh to 4 to 23 months in prison for the probation violation meaning, that with credit for time served, he will spend another 5 weeks behind bars before becoming eligible to be released.
Only CBS 3 cameras were there as family members and investigators left the Media Courthouse.
"I think it was a fair ruling, it keeps him behind bars until they can wrap up their investigation," Nadia's brother Khaled told CBS 3's Walt Hunter.
"We're pleased with the judge's ruling to keep him behind bars for another five weeks, giving us a chance to complete our investigation," stated Marple Township detective Barry Williams.
While Singh has not been charged with any wrongdoing in connection with Malik's death, he has, police say, through his attorney, to speak with investigators. His attorney declined comment to CBS 3.
Tests that could determine the cause of Malik's death are still not complete, but her family has no doubt she was the victim of foul play.
Prosecution documents filed at the hearing indicate Nadia's brother Fouad, days before her body was found, called a probation officer. He "claimed that the Defendant was holding his sister Nadia Malik against her will."
The family hopes the trip to court, where they saw Singh for the first time since their loved ones death, will be a step forward toward solving their agonizing mystery.
"It was a hard, tough thing to do," Khaled Malik told Hunter, "we just want to keep him behind bars until we can get answers."
