Ex-Wrestling Coach Cited In Alleged Punching Over Flatulence
DALLASTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A former varsity wrestling coach in central Pennsylvania faces a summary disorderly conduct charge for allegedly encouraging members of his squad to punch a teammate over flatulence.
The York Dispatch reported on Tuesday that 39-year-old Matthew Striebig was cited for the Jan. 2 incident at Dallastown Area High School.
Striebig isn't commenting. He was enrolled last week in the county's diversionary program, and his record will be expunged if he completes it.
The district's superintendent, Ronald Dyer, says the coach's comment wasn't meant to be mean-spirited but the administration took the matter seriously.
A prosecutor says the wrestler who was targeted wasn't hurt.
He's no longer the coach, but Dyer says that wasn't connected to the incident.
