Ex-Coach Pleads In Pennsylvania Juvenile Assault Case
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The former baseball coach at a Catholic high school in Philadelphia has pleaded guilty to charges of assaulting one youth and drugging another at a hotel.
Thirty-eight-year-old Louis Spadaccini pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault and corruption of minors.
Authorities said Spadaccini, a part-time coach at Neumann-Goretti High School, assaulted a 13-year-old in July and August of last year and then gave a 14-year-old student alcohol and a drink spiked with Xanax at a hotel the following month.
Prosecutors said Spadaccini will be sentenced to 12 to 24 years next year under the plea bargain. Defense attorney Tariq Karim El-Shabazz did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
