Evesham Township Police Search For Alleged ATM Skimmer

By Jim Melwert

EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) - Evesham Township Police are trying to identify the man they say installed surveillance equipment on an ATM machine, designed to steal people's debit card information.

Police say the device was quite sophisticated, a small electronic device over the card slot, and then a small pin-hole camera to record customers punching in their PINs.

The device was on a Bank of America ATM in Evesham, and investigators say it was only in place for a few hours, as an alert customer noticed a wire and alerted officials. They say that customer potentially prevented thousands of dollars from being stolen.

Police released this image of the man they say attached the devices:

They say this is a reminder to always take a look at ATMs, gas pumps or other credit card readers, for anything loose, crooked, or anything out of place, like adhesive or tape residue.

If you recognize the suspect, you're asked to contact the Evesham Police Department at 856-983-1116, the Confidential Tip Line at 856-983-4699 or email at Facebook@Eveshampd.org. For anonymous tips, you can text ETPDTIP to 847411.
