Every Reason To Go To PA Farm Show
By Phran Novelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's time to go to the Pennsylvania Farm Show!
It's free, it's indoors, it's one of those rare things in life that actually is fun for all ages, and it's a fabulous eating festival of all the great stuff that grows here.
Fill up on PA-grown baked potatoes, fried mushrooms and other veggies, rib-eye sandwiches, and creamy thick shakes made with Pennsylvania milk…you can start that diet later. Or gobble up lots of fresh vegetables in soups and salads.
Enjoy Pennsylvania maple syrup, see honey being extracted by PA Beekeepers, gape at this year's 1,000 pound butter sculpture, and watch cooking demonstrations all day long. Then, visit the rodeo, tractor square dancing, and booth after booth of Pennsylvania-grown goodness on parade.
Or just admire all the beautiful sheep, cows, pigs, bunnies and chickens, and chat with their caretakers. Plus don't miss the blue-ribbon jams, jellies, and baked goods - you have to see who wins the thumbprint cookie contest!
It's all at the 24-acre Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg from January 9th to 17th.
Admission's free and parking's just $10 bucks.
Agriculture is the Commonwealth's largest industry, so go see just how much grows on our 7.7 million acres of Pennsylvania farmland.
