Election Night Viewing Party Doubles As Political Art Installation
By Hadas Kuznits
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- People from all over gathered to watch the election returns on Tuesday evening. Many attended an election night watch party with a twist in Kensington.
The election night watch party at the Crane Arts building doubled as an interactive political art installation. Artist and co-host Hope Rovelto says even the beer cups were part of the show.
"I casted them out of ceramics," she says. "They have faces of Barack Obama, we have Romney, Big Bird, Sarah Palin, Mickey Mouse."
Fellow artist Amanda Benson says party-goers were invited to snap photos with their favorite cardboard cutout candidate:
"It's a party just to watch history unfold," says Brenson, "and we tried to keep it pretty bipartisan."
She says the people who were interested in checking out the art post-election were in luck.
"It's going to be up for the week," Brenson says, "and there's going to be sort of another opening this Thursday for it."
Election night video (from the party) will be added to the (art) show:
"It'll just show the video of what happened this night," she says. "Obviously, the live (election) feed won't be there."
