UPDATE: Daughter Charged In Stabbing Death Of 83-Year-Old Mother
WILMINGTON, Del., (CBS) - Police say a woman has been charged in connection with the stabbing death of her 83-year-old mother in her Wilmington home early Thursday morning.
Wilmington police say officers responded at about 1:40 a.m. to the 900 block of N. Jackson Street for a report of a person down.
Arriving officers found the victim, 83-year-old Wilda Hutt, dead in her living room from apparent stab wounds.
Investigators say officers also found the victim's daughter, 57-year-old April Hutt, in the living room. According to police, evidence located on scene and statements made by Hutt gave officers cause to arrest her for murder.
Police say their investigation revealed the defendant and victim got into an argument which ended when Hutt allegedly struck her mother with a frying pan and then allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife.
Police say after extensive interviews and a thorough investigation, detectives formally charged Hutt with first degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
