Arrest Made In The Stabbing Of An Elderly Man During South Jersey Home Invasion
EGG HARBOR Twp., N.J. (CBS/AP)-- Police have made an arrest in the home invasion robbery that took place in Egg Harbor Township.
The suspect is 25-years-old and also lives in Egg Harbor Township.
Authorities say the suspect stabbed and critically injured a 91-year-old man during the home invasion.
Egg Harbor Township police found the victim, Charles Sweetman, shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday when they went to his unit at the Tower East Mobile Home Park. Sweetman told police he was attacked and his vehicle was taken during the incident, which occurred sometime during the overnight hours.
Sweetman suffered knife wounds to the neck and chest and remained hospitalized Tuesday afternoon in critical but stable condition.
The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, weapons offenses, theft and burglary.
The suspect's bail is set at $350,000.
Sweetman's vehicle was also recovered during the investigation.
The suspect's name is not being released at this time due to further investigation into the incident.
