Elderly Man Killed In Northeast Philadelphia House Fire
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Authorities confirm an elderly man was killed in a house fire in Northeast Philadelphia early Monday morning.
The fire started at about 8 a.m. inside a home in the 300 block of Buxmont Street.
When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke coming from the basement of the home. They were able to place the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
Fire officials say a male in his 70s was rushed to Aria Health's Torresdale Hospital, but was later pronounced dead. The victim's identity was not immediately released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
