Elderly Man Injured After Assault In Wilmington
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) - Police in Delaware are searching for a suspect who assaulted and injured an elderly man as he walked to a store Sunday evening.
The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. on S. Maryland Avenue and Broom Street in Wilmington.
According to police, the 73-year-old victim was walking down Maryland Avenue when he passed a group of young males. Shortly after, the man was suddenly struck with an unknown object from behind in the head by one of the suspects.
The victim, who suffered a laceration to the head, then fell to the ground.
Police say the group of males then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to the Wilmington Hospital where he was treated for his injury.
