Einstein Medical Center Is Expanding Less Than A Year After Opening

EAST NORRITON, Pa. (CBS) - Less than a year after it opened its doors, Montgomery County's newest hospital in East Norriton is already planning for an expansion.
Officials at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery say construction will begin soon on the west wing of the center's fourth floor. It's currently administrative office and conference space but by year's end it will become two dozen additional patient rooms. Chief Operating Officer Beth Duffy says they knew this day would come, it just got here a little sooner than expected.
"When we decided to build in central Montgomery County, we knew that 60-percent of the residents of the county left the county for their health care services."
For that reason, a possible expansion was already included in the medical center's strategic plan. The space was specifically designed for a fast conversion to patient rooms. This will bring to 170 the total number of licensed beds, all of which are private.
