Ed Rendell's New "I'm Stuck" App Aims To Solve Infrastructure Problems
By Ian Bush
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you're sick of getting stuck in traffic or if you've had it up to here with delayed trains or airport security lines, Ed Rendell says he can help -- with a smartphone app.
"I'm Stuck" is free for iPhone and Android -- though it's not about instant gratification.
"Blue states and red states all approve significant increases in infrastructure spending, but it's now time for the federal government to do its part," Rendell said.
The former Pennsylvania governor is co-chairman of Building America's Future, which pushes for federal investment in roads, bridges, and mass transit. Point to a problem, even add a picture, and the app fires off a note to your man or woman in Washington.
"A pre-written email comes up that says 'I'm stuck in traffic, I'm frustrated. People around me in trucks and cars are also frustrated.' The American infrastructure is inadequate," Rendell said. "It's aging. it's time to do something about it -- get off your duffs and do something. The power is yours."
Rendell says he hopes a flood of "I'm Stuck" app messages will be a "permission slip" of sorts for those in Congress scared of being labeled as spenders but who realize the need to fix crumbling infrastructure.
