A fugitive missing since an escape in Philadelphia's Mayfair section last Saturday has been captured by federal authorities.
KYW's Mike Dougherty reports that Philadelphia police say 22-year-old suspected murderer Omar Roane (right) was arrested by US Marshals last night in Harrisburg without incident. A tip alerted authorities to the house where he was staying.
Roane escaped police custody last Saturday when he and two others popped open the back door of a police van in the city's Mayfair section while being transported to Curran Fromhold prison in the Northeast. The other two prisoners were re-arrested immediately.
He was originally arrested on August 13th and charged with killing a 17-year-old boy in June 2009.
Police say the van involved in the incident has been taken off the street for investigation.
And police in South Jersey say a prisoner who escaped while being transported to Camden County Jail early Saturday morning has turned himself in.
KYW's Hadas Kuznits reports authorities say 34-year-old Paul Griffith showed up at the Bellmawr Police station aroun 11:40am.
Griffith (right) allegedly kicked out the back window of a patrol car and jumped out of the vehicle, which was traveling around 20 miles per hour.
He was wearing nothing but red boxer shorts, a white tank top, and handcuffs — he lost his pants before jumping from the car.
No word on what he was wearing when he returned to the police station.
Authorities say Griffith faces drug charges.
