Early Adopters Have an Eye, If Not a Hand, on Apple Watches, Now on Display in Stores

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- You'll have to wait just a little longer to be the first on your block to own a futuristic Apple Watch.
Online pre-sales began early this morning, with shipping starting later this month. And now, you can make an appointment at select Apple stores to test them out.
----
Some people in our region even set their alarm clocks for 3:00am (12 midnight Pacific Time) so they could be among the first to purchase an Apple Watch online.
Joe Piscitello, of Society Hill, says he bought several styles because he could make up his mind. He also made an appointment at the Apple store, in the 1600 block of Walnut Street, to try on the models he purchased, but ran into a problem.
"Although I made an appointment to come in and check out exactly which model I wanted and what color, and they (said they) would be here for me, unfortunately they are running low already, even though they didn't sell any, so I couldn't seee the exact color band and model I wanted. So I've got to find another store to try them on."
Piscitello says he will cancel the orders of the ones he doesn't want.
The various models of Apple Watch start around $400 and can go up to more than $10,000.
Apple says if production is ready, shipping of pre-ordered items will start on April 24th.
