Eagles Vs. Redskins - Round 2
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When the Philadelphia Eagles march into FedEx Field on Monday night for their rematch with the Washington Redskins, they'll do so with a share of first place on the line.
The Dallas Cowboys, under interim head coach Jason Garrett, did the Eagles and their fans a favor on Sunday afternoon with a 33-20 win over the New York Giants at the Meadowlands.
With a win over Donovan McNabb and company, the Eagles would not only climb into a first place tie with the Giants in the NFC East, setting up an even bigger showdown when the two rivals meet in week 11, but they would put some more space between themselves and the Redskins, as well.
The Eagles are looking to build on their big 26-24 win over Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts on November 7th.
The Redskins are coming off of their bye week. They last played two weeks ago, losing 37-25 to the Lions in Detroit, a game that sparked controversy after head coach Mike Shanahan pulled McNabb late in the contest in favor of Rex Grossman, claiming Grossman had a better understanding of the team's two-minute offense.
In their first meeting this season, the Redskins beat the Eagles 17-12 at Lincoln Financial Field. In that game, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was injured in the first quarter and did not return.
Vick returned to action against Indy, passing for 218 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 74 yards and a score. Vick's performance against the Colts earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for week 9.
The Eagles are 12-7 all-time under head coach Andy Reid on Monday Night Football.
