Eagles Sign QB Trent Edwards

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The first Eagles news to come from the NFL scouting combine has nothing to do with the draft. The Eagles announced they have agreed to terms with QB Trent Edwards on a one year deal.
Edwards will replace Vince Young, whose career as an Eagle got off to a curious start with his now famous "dream team" comment, and never quite recovered.
A former third round pick of the Buffalo Bills, Edwards also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was most recently cut by the Oakland Raiders before the 2011 season, and did not make the regular season roster. He did not play in the NFL last year.
In four NFL seasons, Edwards has thrown 26 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions. He made the NFL All Rookie team in 2007.
He will compete with Mike Kafka for the job of backing up Michael Vick. Kafka's knowledge of the team's system will give him an advantage.
