Eagles To Sign DeSean Jackson In Next Ten Days?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The choices the Eagles have to make regarding wide receiver DeSean Jackson are well documented. When rumors surfaced that they would put the franchise tag on Jackson, the options seemed simple; either trade his rights to another team, sign him to a long term deal, or sign him for one \-year to a contract valued at the average of the top five paid wide receivers in the NFL.
Conventional wisdom suggested that the team would eventually trade Jackson if they were able to find a team interested. If not, a one-year deal was likely.
Reuben Frank, of Comcast Sportsnet and 94 WIP, thinks otherwise. "I think they're going to sign him. I think they really want him here. Andy really loves the kid. I think he really realizes his best chance to be the player he wants to be is with Michael Vick. I think they're going to get it done. The whispers I'm hearing out here, I just think they're going to get it done in the next ten days or so." Frank is in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, and spoke to 94 WIP's Angelo Cataldi and The Morning Team on Friday.
While Frank thinks Jackson will be well paid, he thinks the deal will be worth less per year than a "franchise player" contract (about $9.5 million). "Could they do it for $8.5 million a year? I think so. I think DeSean would take that. That would make him one of the top ten highest paid guys in the league."
