Eagles TE Brent Celek Unharmed After Car Crash In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek was one of five people in a car involved in a DUI crash early Thursday morning.
Accident investigators say a 2012 Audi was on the southbound ramp from I-95 to Packer Avenue at about 2:25 a.m. when the driver slammed into the concrete barrier. Authorities say the car was speeding, which caused it to spin out of control and into the concrete barrier.
Celek was a back seat passenger. No one was hurt.
The driver was identified by state police as 35-year-old Shawn Glynn of Philadelphia. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities say none of the passengers have been charged.
The Eagles released an official statement on Thursday:
"The team is aware of the accident and has been in contact with Brent. Thankfully, no one involved in the accident was injured and, to our knowledge, Brent is not facing any legal charges."
And Celek also released a statement via an Eagles spokesman on Thursday:
"As far as the events of last night are concerned, the bottom line is I showed extremely poor judgment. I did not know that the person driving the car was over the legal limit, but that's not an excuse. I put my life in danger and was in a vehicle that put other people's lives in danger, and that's just not the way I operate. It will not happen again."
Brent Celek turned 27 on Wednesday. He caught 62 passes for the Eagles last season, including five touchdown catches.
