Eagles Tab Ed Marynowitz As New VP Of Player Personnel
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Chip Kelly finally has his right-hand man. On Thursday morning, the Eagles announced that they have promoted Ed Marynowitz to the position of Vice President of Player Personnel.
The position became a need when the Eagles restructured their front office, giving power over player personnel decisions to Chip Kelly. The Eagles coach was then tasked with finding someone to report directly to him and handle player personnel decisions tailored to the wants of Kelly.
Marynowitz, 30, joined the Eagles in 2012 as the team's assistant director of pro scouting and was promoted one year later to assistant director of player personnel.
"Ed is someone who has really impressed me going back to my interview process with the Eagles two years ago," said head coach Chip Kelly. "He's very bright, detailed, organized and his vision was aligned with what we want to accomplish. I spoke with a lot of people outside of our organization over the past few weeks and in the end, Ed was the most impressive."
Marynowitz was a part of the search group that the Eagles used to bring Kelly to Philadelphia in 2013.
Prior to coming to Philadelphia, he worked for four years as director of player personnel for the University of Alabama which afforded him a great deal of responsibility in the school's recruiting efforts.
Before Alabama, Marynowitz was a scouting assistant for the Dolphins where he worked with Jeff Ireland and Bill Parcells.
Marynowitz, a native of Media, Pa, played college football at La Salle University (the school discontinued football after the 2007 season) as the team's starting quarterback and earned all-american honorable mention honors in 2003. He holds a number of La Salle's passing records and wrapped up his playing career as a back up quarterback at Central Florida.
