PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Chip Kelly mania has swept Philadelphia. An Eagles team who was once considered a success if they went 8-8 and showed improvement, is now a team who fans consider to be the best team in the NFC East. And the change in how the team is viewed is not just a local one.
The Eagles Super Bowl odds, once a 50-1 long shot, have moved to 28-1 after their week one win according to Bovada. The change was the most significant in the NFL this week, along with the Falcons who went from 12-1 to win it all to 18-1. The Broncos and 49ers were co-favorites to win the Super Bowl prior to the year, but the Broncos now stand alone as favorite at 5-1, while the 49ers stayed at 6-1.
The win also affected the Eagles odds to win the NFC East. Once the least likely to win it at 4-1, the Eagles are now second only to the Cowboys (2-1) at 11-1. The Giants and the Redskins are both 3-1 odds to win the division.
Kelly's high-octane offense is expected to repeat, as the over/under for plays run in Sunday's game against the Chargers is 80.5.
