Eagles sign seven-time Pro Bowl WR Julio Jones
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles added some wide receiver depth and signed seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones on Tuesday.
Jones earned first-team All-Pro honors twice in his career, and he's a member of the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2010s.
The future Hall of Fame wideout is entering his 13th NFL season and is the second veteran the Eagles have added to their roster recently. The Birds signed cornerback Bradley Roby back on Oct. 3.
Roby made his Eagles debut against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 5, playing 25 snaps in the 23-14 win.
The addition of Jones is reminiscent of the Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh signings from the 2022 season. After defensive tackle Jordan Davis was placed on injured reserve, the Birds added Suh and Joseph, and both played key roles for the Eagles on their run to Super Bowl LVII.
The Birds needed more depth at wide receiver after the team placed slot wideout Quez Watkins on injured reserve before Week 6 against the Jets.
Jones, 34, isn't the same player he was during his prime years with the Falcons, but the veteran might be able help out the Birds in a limited number of snaps. He's dealt with a number of knee and hamstring injuries over the past couple of seasons. Over the past three years, Jones hasn't played more than 10 games in a single season.
Jones was a first-round draft pick out of the University of Alabama back in 2011 by Falcons. He played for the Falcons for the first 10 years of his career and spent the 2021 season with the Tennessee Titans and the 2022 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jones caught 24 passes for 299 yards and a pair of scores in 10 games with the Bucs.

Historically, Jones terrorized the Eagles throughout his career. In six games against Philly, Jones had 41 catches for 703 yards and five touchdowns.
Eagles wideout A.J. Brown, who played in Tennessee with Jones, reacted to the news on social media.
