Eagles Re-Sign Michael Vick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles have re-signed quarterback Michael Vick to a restructured contract, the team announced today.
Vick was due a base salary of $15.5 million for the 2013 season, with a cap hit of $16.9 million, per EaglesCap.com. Comcast Sportsnet reports that Vick's new deal is for three years. Though the contract will be for three years, it's hard to believe there would be a guarantee past 2013.
Most did not expect Vick to be back with the team in 2013, even though Chip Kelly's offense thrives under a more mobile quarterback. Vick has struggled with injuries and turnover problems over the last two seasons. When Vick was once again able to play after recovering from a concussion in 2012, Andy Reid and the Eagles opted to continue to start Nick Foles.
"Knowing we have Michael and Nick, gives us a direction as to where we're going offensively," Kelly said at a press conference on Monday."There's an open competition. Mike knows that, Nick knows that."
"I am grateful and proud to be a Philadelphia Eagle. My heart is in Philly and this community is important to me," Vick said via Twitter.
It's possible that the restructuring might make it easier to trade Vick, but that would typically be done by the team trading for Vick, and not by the Eagles.
