Eagles Ranked As 4th Best Offense In NFL
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- According to Pro Football Focus (PFF) and ESPN Insider, the Philadelphia Eagles have the fourth best offense in all of football. In Chip Kelly's first NFL season as head coach of the Eagles in 2013, his offense finished second in yards per game (417.3) and fourth in points per game (27.6).
Using PFF's graded depth chart, ESPN Insider weighted that data, speculated on rookies, and divided offenses into four categories (quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, offensive line), to compile their 2014 NFL offense rankings.
The Eagles were ranked 16th in quarterbacks, second in running backs (behind the Kansas City Chiefs), 26th in receivers, and first in offensive line. Overall, the Birds were listed---in descending order---fourth behind the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos, and Green Bay Packers.
The Broncos, Packers, and Saints were ranked first, second, and third in the quarterback rankings.
Gordon McGuinness wrote on ESPN.com, "The progression of Nick Foles will be key, and if he can repeat 2013 in terms of his deep-ball throwing (he threw 14 touchdowns to just one interception), the Eagles should be able to score plenty of points again in 2014."
