Eagles Hope Fans Will Break Blood Donation Record At Saturday Drive

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eagles fans who "bleed green" are being asked to stop by Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow (Saturday), and donate a little red.
It's the fifth annual Philadelphia Eagles-American Red Cross blood drive. From 6am to 2pm, the Linc will host the hundreds of fans expected to donate blood.
Even though the team isn't doing well these days, Red Cross spokesman Anthony Tornetta says fans are still eager to give.
"(They) may not be getting the results on the field that everybody was hoping for, but it's a championship effort that's taking place off the field," he tells KYW Newsradio.
And he says they're hoping to top last year's total, when they collected "in the mid-800s" units of blood.
This year, if you donate you get a Todd Herremins t-shirt, and six fans will get tickets to next year's home opener.
Tornetta says the support by blood donors since Hurricane Sandy has been strong, so blood levels are stable. But, he adds, every unit counts.
