Eagles Fans Heartbroken After Loss To Redskins
By Mike Dougherty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Eagles playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after losing to the lowly Washington Redskins Saturday, leaving fans disappointed to say the least.
With just a few minutes remaining in a tie game, Eagles fans felt good about where their team was, needing just a field goal to win.
"I was thinking all they gotta do is chew up some time and score a couple of points and we're good to go," fan Andrew Schaeffer tells KYW Newsradio. "And I thought they had it."
"I'm thinking we're in, right?" adds fan Guido Martelli. "And then..."
Then Mark Sanchez threw an interception with about a minute-and-a-half remaining. But the loss wasn't all his fault.
"The secondary gave up way too many big passes, so it's tough to see that," Martelli says. "Cody Parkey makes one field goal and it's a totally different game."
Now the Eagles need plenty of help if they want to continue playing in January.
"Pretty disappointing, man," Schaeffer says. "We've been the masters of our own destiny for the last couple of weeks, and we blew it."
On top of beating the Giants next week, the Eagles need the Cowboys and Tony Romo to lose their last two games to keep playoff hopes alive.
"He's a choke artist," Martelli says about Romo, "so always pulling for Dallas to lose, but more these next two weeks than ever."
Still, fans say this season has been a fun one to watch and they're excited about the future with Chip Kelly.
