Eagles Fans Gear Up For Preseason Opener At The Linc
By Cherri Gregg
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The birds are back! Today the Philadelphia Eagles hit the field in their first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. But the die-hard fans were out bright and early to start their own festivities.
It may only be preseason football, but for the biggest of Eagles fans it's the real season of tailgating.
"I'll be the first one in the Linc parking lot," said Shawn Young. Young was waiting outside the gate to Lincoln Financial Field at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, with green and silver face paint, an Eagles away uniform, even shoulder pads.
"There's nothing like Eagles football," he said. "This is just the way we do it. It's a lifestyle, it's a religion for us."
Lifelong Eagles fan and tailgater Bill Monaghan said he's had clinched teeth during the off-season thanks to coach Chip Kelly's roster changes, but he's waiting to see the results.
"A lot of new players," he said. "We'll see if (Sam) Bradford is healthy, see how he can perform, and some of the new players."
His only words for the team -- "Go Birds!"
