Eagles Agree To Contract Extension With Special Teams Ace Chris Maragos

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles announced a deal with special teams standout Chris Maragos on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles are regarded as having one of the most talented units in the league, led by coordinator Dave Fipp, and Maragos is a big reason for the success of that phase of the ball.

The deal is for three more years and it will keep Maragos in town through the 2019 season.

Howie Roseman released a statement regarding the deal. "His work ethic, team-first attitude, accountability and high character are things he brings to work every single day," Roseman said of Maragos.

Chris Maragos Pays Tribute To Philly Fans

The Eagles signed Maragos in 2014 as a free agent after he left the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, where he spent three seasons. He played one season with the 49ers prior to his stint in Seattle.

In 2014, Maragos forced two fumbles and scored a touchdown on a recovered blocked punt. He also blocked a punt himself.

Eagles fans are used to seeing Maragos as the first man down on kick coverage for the Eagles and that appears like it will be the case for a few more years.
