Eager Phillies Fans Watch The Phillies Opening Day Shutout At Xfinity Live

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Opening day is like a national holiday for Phillies fans. So they were sure to adjust their work schedules to make sure they got to watch today's season opening win in Pittsburgh. KYW's Mike DeNardo watched the game with fans at Xfinity Live in South Philly.
For Phillies fan Brent Imming of West Chester, it was a loooong winter. The image of Ryan Howard down on the turf as the Cardinals celebrated their Division Series victory last year, is one he has been eager to erase.
"I couldn't wait for the season to start and to get that out of my mind. It was gut wrenching for a couple of weeks after that happened. I didn't even want to watch any playoffs or any baseball after that happened. So I'm looking forward to a new season -- looking forward to it!"
Fans cheered as the Phillies scored their first run of 201, a seventh-inning Carlos Ruiz sac fly.
"As soon as it started getting warm out, I started betting ready for baseball. So I'm excited - excited for the year," said Brian Smith of Old City.
T.J. McHugh of West Chester says the Phils will survive injuries to Ryan Howard and Chase Utley.
"The pitching's going to help us get through a lot. I think Hunter Pence is going to have a great season. Hopefully, Howard, Utley and everybody come back nice and healthy. Let them rest a little bit and then once they come back, we'll be ready to roll."
That roll has begun, with a shutout victory on Opening Day.
