E-Commerce Retailers Network, Discuss Latest Trends At Digital Summit In Philadelphia
By Paul Kurtz
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thousands of e-commerce representatives are in Philadelphia for the online retailing industry's annual digital summit.
The meeting at the Pennsylvania Convention Center comes at a time of explosive growth.
"The e-commerce world and specifically the software providers that lay in this world have tripled probably."
Alex Lithicum works for Jagged Peak, an order management company that specializes in streamlining communications for retailers. Philadelphia-based WebLinc is one such e-commerce company that's been trying to keep up with the changes. Chief Revenue Officer Avery Amaya says the big move is in mobile devices.
"We have a lot of clients that are getting 75-80 percent of their traffic is hitting their mobile site first," he says. "They're going to mobile sites, you're having to get into mobile-friendly e-mail formats. But then there's the apps concept, too."
The next challenge, says Amaya, is learning how to leverage the technology to interact with customers regardless of where they are, figuring out who those customers are and what they're doing.
