During Debate #3, Both Barbs and Tweets Were Flying

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- For those watching last night's presidential debate, the faceoff produced some real "tweetable" moments.
The third and final debate between President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney generated 6.5 million tweets, making it the least-tweeted debate of this election (see related story).
According to Twitter, the debate's hottest topics were -- not surprisingly -- foreign policy, with 54 percent of the night's tweets sent; the economy, with 20 percent; terrorism, with 9 percent; taxes, with 7 percent; and energy and the environment, with 4 percent.
Tweets-per-minute peaked at 105,767, when Pres. Obama delivered the zinger, "We also have fewer horses and bayonets." Google's search engine also saw a sharp spike for the word "bayonet."
But with just 13 days left until Election Day, there have been no major new social media crazes on the scale of "Big Bird" or "binders of women."
