Dual-Enrollment Program For New Jersey Colleges

DEPTFORD, N.J. (AP) -- A new agreement between two southern New Jersey colleges will soon make it easier for students who go to community college to earn a 4-year degree.

Gloucester County College and Rowan University on Thursday announced that they are rolling out a dual-enrollment program to allow students to be accepted at both schools at the same time.

Once students successfully complete their associate degree at Gloucester County College, they can go on to earn a bachelor's degree at Rowan.

State Senate President Steve Sweeney says the new partnership will improve access to higher education for south Jersey residents and make it more affordable to obtain a four-year degree.

This fall, about 1,100 students transferred to Rowan from county colleges and other institutions.
