DRPA Preparing To Sell RiverLink Ferry That Links Penn's Landing To Camden Riverfront

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) -- The Delaware River Port Authority is preparing to get rid of its RiverLink ferry that links Penn's Landing and the Camden waterfront, but keep the service in operation when it cranks up again in the spring.
It's the latest step by the DRPA to rid itself of anything that is not directly connected with running its four bridges and the PATCO high speed line.
Plans are to sell the RiverLink, which carries 150,000 passengers a year, for $300,000, according to Authority Deputy CEO Michael Conallen.
"The ferry is an operation that does not necessarily fit with what we believe our core mission is moving forward and so it made the most sense for us as an authority to get out of the ferry business."
The buyers, two organizations that promote tourism, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation and the Cooper's Ferry Partnership.
The DRPA's board is expected to approve the sale at its board meeting later this month.
