FAA: Drones Banned During Papal Visit
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia will be a "no drone zone" when Pope Francis comes to town in September.
The Federal Aviation Administration says they will be issuing temporary flight restrictions for the weekend of September 26th, and that includes drones.
In an effort to prevent potential problems, the FAA is also cracking down on several activities in addition to drones, including the use of parachutes and hang-gliders, banner towing, even crop dusting and agricultural spraying.
These temporary flight restrictions may also change with little or no notice, according to a statement by the FAA.
The FAA says the restrictions are designed to provide a safe and secure environment for the event but also ensure fair and equitable access to all airspace users to the greatest extent possible.
Private pilots are encouraged to contact a Flight Service Station prior to flight check.
