Drivers On Pa. Turnpike Get Taste Of Winter's First Snow
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The first taste of winter has hit with snow squalls from Allentown to Lancaster County, where snow was coming down so hard during rush hour that visibility was poor and inches were mounting on the Pennsylvania turnpike.
John Lynch and Shanna Nestel came down to Philadelphia from Drexel Hill to make the most of what certainly felt like a cold winter night at the picturesque ice rink outside City Hall.
PennDOT was preparing for a second round of flurries moving in Tuesday night, loading trucks and spreading salt.
And while the salt barns are full, so are the shelves at ACE Hardware store in Fairmount.
Shovels, bags of salt and every other tool needed for that first big storm is still fully stocked and waiting for the rush.
The store owner says that while they haven't really been selling cold weather supplies, people have been keep themselves busy with other projects, so winter business isn't exactly booming but it's not hurting either
The ground may not be white but the bitter cold has everyone feeling like winter is finally here.
"I hated it honestly I hate the snow," John Lynch said.
