Driver Sought In Deadly Hit-And-Run In Delaware
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Delaware State Troopers are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit and run in Newark early Wednesday.
According to the Delaware State Police, the crash occurred at about 3:12 a.m.
Investigators say a 33-year-old was found lying in the southbound lane of Glasgow Avenue just south of Cann Road. Authorities say he was struck and run over by a vehicle traveling southbound on Glasgow Avenue. After the impact, the vehicle continued southbound without stopping.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not yet released his name.
The striking vehicle has been identified as a red 2012 Honda Civic. Investigators say the vehicle should have damage to its left front corner and wheel well area.
Glasgow Avenue was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident and troopers are attempting to locate the driver.
