Driver Involved In Chester County Fatal Accident Has 5 Prior DUIs

WESTTOWN Twp., Pa., (CBS) – Police arrested Robert Landis, 49, of West Chester, for driving under the influence after investigators say at a high rate of speed he turned his pickup truck into the path of 24-year-old Liam Crowley who was riding his motorcycle.
Court records indicate Landis has a lengthy history of five prior DUI's dating back to 1997 and was sentenced to 18 to 36 months in prison for his DUI case four years ago.
Crowley died Sunday night. His father says he is infuriated Landis was back out on the road.
"He has no concern. It's all about him and not about humanity. As far as I'm concerned he has no soul and I have no mercy for him whatsoever," Liam Crowley said.
Crowley worked for Steve Figgat at his computer refurbishing business. He called the 24-year-old ambitious and passionate.
"Why was he driving around that night? It's not fair to Liam. Liam had so much potential," Figgat said.
Landis was arrested following the Friday night crash on SR 202 (Wilmington Pike) near Stanton Avenue in Westtown Township.
Landis was driving on a suspended license.
The Chester County District Attorney contends this case indicates something needs to be done.
"If you've been caught driving drunk five, six, seven times it's time for the legislature to say 'That's enough we are not putting lives at risk anymore. You have lost your driving privileges for the rest of your life'," Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology results to officially charge Landis in connection to Friday's crash. He is currently locked up for a parole violation.
