Driver Charged In Connection With Crash That Killed 2, Including 4-Year-Old
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A woman was arrested Thursday evening in connection with a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway that killed two people, including a four-year-old, and injured four others back in June.
All of the victims were from Philadelphia.
On June 20 around 7:07 a.m., police responded to a fatal crash in Hamilton Township.
Through an investigation, officers discovered a white Ford pickup truck driven by Roselyn Kornegay, 45, was traveling westbound on the Expressway when it left the roadway toward the center median, struck a guardrail and overturned.
Kornegay, two passengers inside of her pickup truck's cab, and three additional passengers who were riding in the bed of the truck were all ejected from the vehicle.
The front seat passenger, 35-year-old James Dennis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kornegay and the other front seat passenger, a four-year-old boy, were transported via helicopter to Cooper University Hospital where the child died as a result of his injuries.
The remaining passengers, Dion Kornegay, Brian Gregory and Shaniqua Abrams were transported by helicopter to a local hospital and treated for serious injuries.
Roselyn Kornegay was charged with two death by auto, operating a vehicle and causing death while under the influence of alcohol, assault by auto and endangering the welfare of a child.
Kornegay surrendered to New Jersey State Police yesterday evening and was subsequently lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
