Driver Arrested In Fatal Newark Crash
NEWARK, Del. (CBS) --- Newark Police have made an arrest in a fatal car collision that took place on Saturday, October 12th (see previous story).
Robert Perago, 53, was charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Perago was driving alone and at a high rate of speed on Christina Parkway when his BMW failed to stop for a red light at South College Avenue and struck a Toyota Camry.
The Camry had come to a stop for the red light when it was struck from behind.
The Camry's driver, Gail Dierolf, 60, and front-seat passenger Richard Dierolf, 65, were treated for non life-threatening injuries at Christiana Hospital.
Cora Williamson, 90, was in the back seat of the Camry. Williamson was also taken to Christiana Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
After he was treated for non life-threatening injures, Perago was transferred into police custody.
Perago was released after posting $12,000 bail.
