Drexel University Career Fair Draws Nearly 100 Employers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Job prospects may be looking up for this year's college graduates.
Drexel University says it had to create more space for companies involved in its latest Spring Career Fair.
Kathleen Neary, associate director of the Steinbright Career Development Center at Drexel, says they had no trouble rounding up representatives from 97 companies this time around.
"We've seen a 35-percent increase in employers coming to the career fair," she says. "What's also great is that we've seen about a 10-percent increase in new employers coming to this career fair, which is giving students more opportunities."
And many students seemed to be faring well.
"It's going great," said one. "I secured an interview here with New York Life, and I have a foot in the door with ING Financial, so I'm reaching out to financial positions."
"I went to three booths so far," said another. "I've handed out a couple of résumés here. It's been a good resource."
As this crop of seniors prepares to head out into the real world, a new survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers finds that employers expect to hire 21 percent more new college graduates this year.
