Drexel Univ. Medical School Opens A Central NJ Campus
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (CBS) -- Drexel University's school of medicine in expanding into central New Jersey.
There has been a seven-year partnership between Drexel and St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ (above), which is now going to another level.
Drexel medical school dean Dr. Richard Homan:
"We have a training program now which initially started with student rotations here in different specialties. And now we have a regional academic campus to have our third- and fourth-year students reside in the community and complete their third- and fourth-year clinical rotation on site here."
When tallied with the university's med school operations at Hahnemann and St. Christopher's Hospitals in Philadelphia, there will be about 260 physicians in training, many from within the region.
And it's hoped those who live here and train here stay here after they get their degrees.
