Drexel Student's App Puts Scholarships At Your Fingertips
By Kim Glovas
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Drexel University student who bankrolled his own college education through scholarships has created a new app to spread the word to others. It's called My Scholly.
Christopher Gray realized he'd have to find free money for college when he was a junior in high school. And he got it by applying for 72 scholarships. He received 34. Now, he's developed a $0.99 app which allows others to search for in minutes, what he did over months.
"And you have eight parameters which are your grades, ethnicity, GPA, what state you're in, miscellaneous information which is like, ADHD, Jewish, LGBT -- things like that."
On average those who search find about 70 scholarships that fit their information.
"Even if you have a 2.0 GPA, you still qualify for at least 50 or 60 scholarships. That's scholarships that don't necessarily look at GPA, that's scholarships that are more focused on your community service or your leadership."
The app is available for iPhones and Androids.
